2. 02The ring on the table

   'May the Father of Understanding guide us.' Three hours in, the toast reveals the truth: you have been playing the Templars' Grand Master.

3. 03The fire in the valley

   Ratonhnhaké:ton's village burns; his mother dies in it. The boy fixes the blame on Charles Lee's sneer and carries it for thirty years.

4. 04The old man on the hill

   Achilles — gutted by Shay's purge a generation earlier — takes one last student, teaches him everything, and names him Connor after a son he buried.

5. 05Revolution as a client

   Tea Party, Lexington, Bunker Hill, Valley Forge: Connor lends the patriots his tomahawk for one promise — his people's land — from men already planning to break it.

6. 06Father and son

   Haytham and Connor hunt Benjamin Church together, and for one sea voyage the two Creeds share a deck. The truce dies of honesty.

7. 07Fort George and the tavern

   Haytham dies almost approvingly under his son's blade; Lee dies sharing a silent drink. Connor's revenge completes and buys precisely nothing back.

8. 08December 21, 2012

   In the Grand Temple, Desmond weighs Minerva's noble apocalypse against Juno's poisoned salvation — and puts his hand on the pedestal knowing the price.
