Arno Dorian

Twice orphaned — redemption as procedure

The Brotherhood

Son of an Assassin murdered at Versailles and ward of the Templar Grand Master murdered thirteen years later, Arno joined the Brotherhood from a Bastille cell to solve the second death and pay for surviving both. Revolutionary Paris made his case sprawl: the killer sat inside the Templars themselves — Germain's radicals, who preferred owning the Terror's ledgers to owning thrones. His investigation cost him his master Bellec, his standing in the Brotherhood, and finally Élise de la Serre, the Templar heiress he loved across doctrine — the series' best romance precisely because neither would convert.
