Adéwalé

Quartermaster, Assassin, liberator — freer than his captain

The Brotherhood

Born on a Trinidad plantation and escaped as a boy, Adéwalé was the Jackdaw's first quartermaster and Edward Kenway's working conscience — the man who wanted Nassau to mean something while his captain wanted it to pay. He joined the Assassins years before Edward stopped laughing at them. In 1735 a shipwreck stranded him at Port-au-Prince, the slave trade's beating heart, and the Creed's abstractions gave way to the concrete fight that was always his: arming the Maroons, turning a hijacked slaver against the trade, and learning — at the cost of a scuttled ship full of people he couldn't save — what liberation demands beyond fury.
